The other cool feature of the Master Sword in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is that when Link has full hearts, holding down the R button will see it unleash a giant beam of light that can be aimed at enemies. When the material loses its luster, the Master Sword won’t break but it will be out of action while it recharges in Link’s inventory. It doesn’t have an explicit attack value like all the other weapons in the game, but you can still attach various materials and items to it to strengthen its ability. It’ll be music to the ears of many to learn that the Master Sword in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom cannot break – yes, you read that correctly. What does the Master Sword in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom do? When you reach the Light Dragon, run up to its head and pull it using your two full stamina circles. Depending on its location, you might want to use a battery-powered Zonai device like the glider to get as close as possible. Therefore, your best shot at landing on the Light Dragon safely is by finding a high up location, like the Water Temple, timing it correctly so that the Light Dragon’s path is directly or thereabouts underneath Link’s fall path.

It’s possible to mark the Light Dragon’s current location if you complete the Recovering the Hero’s Sword quest line, but you likely won’t bump into it until much later in the game.

You’ll likely have seen the Light Dragon flying around because Central Hyrule is one of the earliest locations you visit, and it’s the perimeter of this location that the Light Dragon constantly circles. Reaching the top of this flying beastie can prove a bit tricky, however, as it follows a pre-set path across the sky. With your stamina meter built, you’ll need to land on top of a creature known as the Light Dragon. Completing around 20 shrines, at least without opting to upgrade Link’s health, should do it. This can be upgraded in a similar way to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, by completing shrines (yes, there’s a lot of them) to get a Light of Blessing and visiting any one of the Goddess Statues littered around Hyrule’s towns. But, Before embarking on your journey to pull the Master Sword, you’ll want to make sure you have at least two full rings of stamina. The Master Sword is located on the head of the Light Dragon.
